The Collections Story

The Space Between was created to give voice and bring forward colour to the hidden emotions of grief. Revealing what lies below the surface within our hearts, body and life around us.

Grief and loss, is something we all experience at some point in our life. It is a time for compassion and connection, yet it can feel incredibly isolating. Through the art, colouring, poetry and creative reflections, this collection was designed to bring peace and hope to feeling less alone in your journey with grief.

A Journey Through Love & Loss

Grief is more than just the loss of a loved one. It can come from many places and take multiple forms. From all the different experiences of grief and those unique to you, the biggest loss, one rarely acknowledged, could be you. Learning to re-find your voice in your new reality.

The Space Between was created to bring forward colour to the hidden emotions of grief. Revealing what lies below the surface and within the spaces between. In today’s world, rushing and continuing on has become the norm. But without time, or space to express your emotions, pausing to feel what you carry, they can appear in ways beyond our imagination.

This collection is an expression of love, healing and reconnection. Rather than focusing on absence, it reveals the ongoing presence of love. How even in grief, you are held by what once was.

If you are navigating your own Space Between, remember to hold onto your love and find comfort, connection and kindness in your own space between.

My Story & Inspiration

This collection was inspired by my own journey with grief. When I was 19 I lost my Dad to cancer. For many years, I suppressed my grief, and with it my creativity. Nearly a decade later, through art, I found my voice again. Art gave me a way to meet my grief, not to fix it, but to witness it. Each painting emerged from that honest and vulnerable process. What you see now, through art, colouring pages and journals, offers the original art in a different way, to support you in your own experience with grief. My hope is that this space helps you reconnect with your emotions, intuition and voice in your own journey too.

Music & Poetry

To support you more deeply alongside the art, journals and colouring, there are also recordings of music, poetry and meditations inspired by the artwork.

These offer additional layers of emotional expression and connection. You can find them on Substack at Embodied in Art by Jess (Jessica Stevens) for free.
