Pathway One. The Creation Path

Mood Board Pathway

Transform Your Story Into Art

The Creation Path is for those who feel ready to begin bringing their story to life through art.

You may already have a clear sense of the experience, moment, or journey you would like your artwork to represent. This pathway allows you to move directly into the creative process by developing a mood board that visually expresses your story.

Your mood board becomes the foundation for a collaborative artwork created by Jess, a piece that reflects your experiences, emotions and the story you carry.

Who This Pathway Is For

This pathway may be right for you if:

  • You already have a clear sense of the story you want to express
  • You feel ready to begin the creative process
  • You enjoy visual inspiration and gathering images, colours, and ideas
  • You want to collaborate in shaping a piece of art that reflects your journey

You don’t need artistic experience, only a willingness to explore and share your story.

What Is a Mood Board?

A mood board is a visual representation of your story.

It is a guided booklet that explores the emotions, motivations and values you want your piece to embody. It also brings together images, colours, words, textures and symbols that reflect the themes you want your artwork to express.

Some people include:

  • photographs
  • magazine cuttings
  • colours that feel meaningful
  • words or phrases that resonate
  • sketches or visual ideas

Your mood board doesn’t need to be perfect. It simply helps communicate the feeling and essence of your story.

How the Process Works

Step 1. Receive Your Welcome and Mood Board Pack

Once you begin this pathway, you will receive a Welcome and Mood Board Pack in the post, including guidance and prompts to help you create your mood board. You can also choose a digital version, that will be sent to you via email.

Step 2. Create Your Mood Board

Using the guidance provided, you will gather images, colours, textures and ideas that reflect your story, the emotions you wish to express and whether you want a portrait, or something entirely unique.

Step 3. Share Your Story

When your mood board is complete, you will send images of your board to Jess and share a little about the story behind it.

Step 4. Consultation

You will then have a conversation with Jess to explore your mood board, discuss your story and consider how it could become a piece of artwork.

Step 5. The Artwork Process

If you choose to continue, Jess will guide you through the next stage of the process, which includes concept sketches, a photography session if you choose a body portrait and the creation of your artwork.

The Next Stage: Creating Your Artwork

After reviewing your mood board together, Jess will outline the next stage of the artwork process.

This stage includes:

  • concept development and sketching
  • collaborative discussion of the artwork direction
  • a photography session if you choose to capture your story through a portrait
  • the painting process

Pricing for this stage varies depending on the size and complexity of the artwork, with most commissions typically ranging between £400 – £2000.

Full details will be shared during your consultation and payment plans are provided, to ensure each stage is accessible for you.

Begin Your Journey

If you feel ready to start the creative process, you can begin by purchasing the Welcome and Mood Board Pack.

This pack contains everything you need to begin exploring your story and preparing for the next stage of your artwork.

Important Notes

Complementary, Not Therapeutic

The Design Book and mood board process is a reflective creative activity and not a form of therapy.
